Jimmy and Elise Lalonde’s Perkins-area backyard “resort” – My Space

Pavilion. Elise and I love the outdoors. We get to hang out, play with the kids, watch TV, swim and dine all right here. It’s like a resort in our own backyard that we can enjoy with everyone. Our landscape architect, Richard Hymel, created a wonderful environment that has everything we need. Cooling off in the pool on a hot summer day is great, but the pavilion is the big hit of the backyard. Whether for LSU games or nightly barbecues, we can entertain people comfortably. When it’s just us, it is still cozy and quaint.

Brick bar. Gathering around the old brick counter reminds me of New Orleans, and the old cypress woodwork gives the room a classic Louisiana feel. Frozen libations are best enjoyed outside on those long, hot summer days. It’s margarita time!

Decorative metal signs. Memories. This relic from the past is from one of our favorite stores in the Lakeview area. We lived there prior to moving to Baton Rouge. “Laissez les bon temps roulez” symbolizes our time in New Orleans. The rust reminds us of Katrina, that we need to live every day as if it is our last. It strongly conveys the “joie de vivre” attitude.
