Jazz Fest lineup announced – Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Arcade Fire among headliners
Festival time is almost here.
The lineup for the 2014 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was announced today. The two-weekend event kicks off Friday, April 25, with performances through Sunday, April 27. Performances will start again Thursday, May 1 and run through Sunday, May 4.
This year’s headliners include Santana, The Avett Brothers, Public Enemy, and Jason Isbell on the festival’s opening day. Phish, Robin Thicke, and Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters will perform Saturday, April 26. Eric Clapton, Vampire Weekend, and the North Mississippi Allstars will perform Sunday, April 27.

The String Cheese Incident, Lyle Lovett, and Solange will perform Thursday, May 1. Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, Alejandro Escovedo and the Sensitive Boys, and Alabama Shakes will perform Friday, May 2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Trey Songz, and Foster the People will perform Saturday, May 3. Arcade Fire, John Fogerty, and Bobby Womack round out this year’s headliners and will perform on the festival’s final day, Sunday, May 4.
Louisiana bands are also well represented at this year’s festivities. Some state bands that are performing include Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Geno Delafose & French Rockin Boogie, Little Freddie King Blues Band and many more.
The 2014 celebration is Jazz Fest’s 45th year. The event takes place at the New Orleans Fair Grounds on 1751Gentilly Boulevard. Single day, general admission tickets are now available for $50 online through Jan. 31 and will increase to $55 Feb. 1. Tickets are the gate are $70.
