Jar for Change has successful night at Bistro Byronz

On Monday, seven-year-old local philanthropist Joey Roth teamed up with Bistro Byronz for the “Bistro for Change” dinner and take-out event. At dinner service, customers could bring change or eat to benefit Roth’s Jar for Change organization, which is donating money raised to Women’s Hospital. Twenty percent of sales at Bistro Byronz went to Jar for Change, and Roth’s father Michael estimates around $400 was raised.

“We had a great turnout,” Michael says. “We saw a lot of people we knew and friends of friends all showing their support for the cause. It was neat to see people brought their own jars. One person even wrapped their jar like a gift. It was a wonderful evening.”

Jar for Change is currently looking for other venues to do similar events and is currently working with Women’s Hospital to bring change drives to other locations, including markets and restaurants. Michael says an additional goal is to get children across the country to start collecting change.

“We want to get other children making their own jars and see that wave go across the city, state and everywhere,” he says.
