Japan’s Suntory expected to buy Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark

The New York Times reported Monday that Beam, the maker of Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark, will be acquired by Japan’s Suntory Holdings Ltd. for $13.6 billion. The deal is one of the biggest takeovers in the liquor business in years and transforms Suntory into the third-largest distiller globally, according to The New York Times.
