‘Iron’ fist
How much does power cost? That is question at the heart of The Iron Lady and new historical drama that traces the life and career of Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of England. Set largely in the 1980s, the film stars Meryl Streep as the conservative politician known for her strong push for privatization and unblinking stance against communism and the Soviet Union. Thatcher’s rise to power and her struggles with opponents on the left and right are at the forefront of this time-skipping biopic of a fascinating world leader. Mamma Mia! director Phyllida Lloyd is behind the camera, and Jim Broadbent co-stars. Rated PG-13.
