Irish Club presents ‘Molly Sweeney’
The Baton Rouge Irish Club will perform the Brian Friel play Molly Sweeney for two weekends at the Café Americain Restaurant on Jefferson Hwy. This originally off-Broadway production tells the story of its title character, Molly, a woman who has been blind since birth, but whose sight is restored through an operation. This moving tale of isolation and exploitation is told through three monologues—Molly herself, her husband, Frank, and Dr. Rice, the ophthalmologist who operated on her. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 29-30. The performances begin at 7:30 p.m., but doors open at 6 p.m. for those who want to dine before the play begins. Call 924-6437 for more information.
