Iraq War film Stop-Loss worth a second look, out on DVD
-
Affected by the same audience malaise that has greeted most Iraq War films, Stop-Loss came and went earlier this year, but on DVD is more than worth a second chance. In her first film since 1999’s Boys Don’t Cry, Kimberly Peirce directs Ryan Phillipe as a soldier who thinks his commitment to the Army has been fulfilled but gets called back into service against his will. Back home in his small Texas town, Phillipe’s Sgt. Brandon King wrestles with loyalty to his country and loyalty to his family and friends. Abbie Cornish, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum co-star. Rated R.
