In the ‘Dark’

Moving into a new home can’t get any creepier than it does for little Bailee Madison in the new horror film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, available now on DVD. Written by Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro and based loosely on the 1970s TV series, the film stars Katie Holmes as the new girlfriend of Madison’s father, played by Guy Pearce. After moving into their remote Gothic mansion, Madison discovers the existence of in the ventilation system a group of mysteriously wicked creatures who want to claim the young girl as one of their own. Julia Blake and Edwina Ritchard co-star. Rated R.
