Louisiana homes have embraced European design in many ways. But some homeowners’ tastes are more far-reaching. Holly Harrison of Holly Harrison Interiors, Inc. worked with clients who wanted a home influenced by Asia.
The 20-year-old home in Five Oaks was full of challenges when Harrison arrived. “There was so much going on, and the bathroom was very top-heavy,” she says.

The master bathroom was dated, with pink-and-white wallpapered walls and old tile. After the renovations, a jade hue on the walls is balanced with modern, white river granite countertops.
“They’ve lived internationally for many years,” Harrison says. “That green, Asian jade look is what appealed to them.”
A clean, white drop-in tub was created just for the homeowner.
The kitchen’s cozy ambience was modified for a cleaner look. The tile flooring was changed to a dark slate tile. Old fluorescent lighting was replaced with can lights and pendants from Tech Lighting.
For functionality, the cooktop was moved to a different part of the kitchen island. The quartz countertops, glass tile backsplashes and stainless steel appliances were all upgrades.
The renovation proved to the clients that no matter where your home is located, you can always make it feel like your favorite place.
