Here come ‘The Descendants’

In his Oscar-nominated role, George Clooney plays a real estate attorney and less-than-involved father grieving for his coma-stricken wife by trying to connect with his daughters on a trip to Hawaii in Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, new this week on DVD. But soon the revelation that his wife was cheating on him with a younger man sends Clooney on an aloof quest for answers as he battles with a strong-willed teenage daughter and his many cousins who want to sell off a lucrative plot of untouched family-owned land to a fast-talking condominium developer. Beau Bridges, Judy Greer and Shailene Woodley co-star. Rated R.
