What happens when a low-budget horror film becomes a surprise hit? Apparently, the studio sees fit to take the concept and the characters and spin a quick sequel without the original’s creator. That’s what happened to Oren Peli and his Paranormal Activity, and the sequel Paranormal Activity 2 arrives in theaters on Friday. When a young family’s home is broken into, they set up security cameras in each room. Soon though they begin to suspect that the perpetrators are not ordinary burglars, but something otherworldly haunting them. Rated R.
