Hear Chicano rock from Los Lobos – A Grammy-winning American Chicano rock band visits the Capital City this weekend.

A Grammy-winning American Chicano rock band visits the Capital City this weekend. Los Lobos, a band known for its mix of heartland and roots rock, performs at Manship Theatre Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $65. The band formed in 1973 with vocalist/guitarist David Hidalgo and drummer Louie Pérez meeting at high school in East Los Angeles, California. The friends enlisted help from Cesar Rosas and Conrad Lozano to fill out the lineup and started playing American Top 40 songs. Throughout the ’80s, the band achieved success, thanks in large part to an appearance on the soundtrack to the film La Bamba as well as consistent output of critically acclaimed original material. In 2010, Los Lobos released its self-produced, Grammy-nominated album Tin Can Trust, which features a cover of the Grateful Dead song “West L.A. Fadeaway.”
