Heads up: Dishcrawl visits Perkins Road overpass area
Dishcrawl, a national brand dedicated to reimagining the way people think about food and drink in their community, will host its first Baton Rouge event Tuesday, April 8. At 7 p.m., participants will begin a tour along the Perkins Road overpass, sampling items from four restaurants. The event starts at City Pork Deli. Remaining restaurants will be named on Dishcrawl’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Whitney Garland, the Baton Rouge Dishcrawl ambassador, says she moved to the Capital City from Lafayette and wants to spotlight some of the not-so-obvious culinary fare.
“When I moved here, I realized it’s a different food scene because the city is so spread out,” she says. “We’re going to highlight those little places along the overpass you wouldn’t think of that have some really amazing dishes.”

Tickets for the event start at $45.
In May, Dishcrawl will also host a Mommy Foodie Fair. Garland says patrons can expect more events in the future, including cocktail wars, chef battles and more signature events. —Matthew Sigur
