Heads up: Arts Council puts spotlight on community identity Monday
The Arts Council is teaming up with Center for Planning Excellence and BREC to install a new community identity project in Old South Baton Rouge next Monday. The pieces will celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. This new installation, called “Community Dreaming: Identity through the Arts,” features portraits from students from three area schools. As part of the MLK Day of Service, oversized prints of dozens of local young people will be installed along the Thomas H. Delpit Drive corridor and will remain on view through spring 2014. The portraits will also look out to the site of the upcoming Downtown Greenway, which is schedule to begin later this year. Next Monday’s installation will be up around 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 344-8558.
