He said, She said – Gender’s effect on some categories

-

Baton Rouge women preferred Murphy, Sam, and Jodi over Walton and Johnston, which isn’t much of a surprise—what is a surprise is the gender breakdown of the votes. It revealed that while Murphy, Sam and Jodi’s audience seems to be mostly women, Walton and Johnson’s audience was nearly equally divided between the sexes.

Only a few men ventured a vote on best women’s shoe store, but the results were rather surprising—if we’d left it to the guys, trendy third-place Imelda’s would have come in first. Dillard’s came in second among the guys, but third-place would have been Shoe Station, which ranked fifth with the ladies in our poll.

The tie would have been broken if we’d separated these votes. The male manicurist of choice was Classy Nails, whereas the women leaned much more towards the pampering, winning arms of Bumble Lane.

The race between the barbeque giants was close this year, but if the ladies had their way it would have gone differently. The number of men and women voting for TJ Ribs was split evenly, but when it came to Voodoo, several more women voted for them.

Rocco’s and George’s turned into a battle of the sexes on our poll. This incredibly tight race was aided by the fact that many more women voted for George’s than voted for Rocco’s. Rocco’s, on the other hand, got a much stronger show of support from the men, with the disparity between the sexes being about equal on both sides.
