‘Hall’ to hall

It’s not so much the freedom but the unexpected challenges that get to Owen Wilson this Friday in the new comedy Hall Pass. When Wilson’s fed up wife played by Jenna Fischer gives him permission to live like a bachelor for one week, he and a buddy—Saturday Night Live’s Jason Sudeikis—do their best to “reel in the babes,” as they say. Things do not go according to plan when these sex-obsessed guys try to party like rock stars, only to realize that they are out-of-touch with more than their wives. They are over-the-hill and helplessly outmatched on the singles scene. Christina Applegate, Richard Jenkins and Stephen Merchant co-star. Rated R.
