Grin and ‘Bear’ it

Documentary/narrative cross-overs were a big deal in 2010 with Catfish, I’m Still Here and The Last Exorcism striking big, but the trend was not lost on animators, either. The latest iteration of Yogi Bear, new in stores this week and starring the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo, finds the perpetual picnic basket bandit in the cross-hairs of a documentary filmmaker traveling through Jellystone Park to film the wildlife. But as the park celebrates it’s 100th anniversary, attendance is at an all-time low, forcing Yogi and Boo Boo to team up with Ranger Smith in an attempt to save their home. The film is live action in 3D with Yogi and Boo CG-animated. Tom Cavanaugh, Nathan Corddry and Anna Faris co-star. Rated PG.
