Grilled Granny Smith Apples with Maple Pecans and Yogurt

4 Granny Smith apples
1 cup water
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. melted butter
˝ cup light brown sugar
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
2 cups pecan halves
1 cup pure maple syrup
2 cups plain or vanilla Greek yogurt

1. Peel and core the Granny Smith apples and slice them into quarter-inch slices.

2. Place the apple slices into a large plastic food storage bag and pour the water and lemon juice over them to keep the apples from turning brown. Keep the apples chilled until ready to grill.

3. Heat the grill to medium. Place the apple slices on a baking sheet and pat them dry on both sides.

4. Brush the apples with butter on both sides and place the baking sheet on the grill. Grill the apples for four to five minutes on one side then turn them over and continue grilling for an additional three to four minutes. Apples should be a little firm but fork tender.

5. Remove the apple slices from the grill and place them in a baking dish. Sprinkle them with the brown sugar and cinnamon and cover them to allow the sugar to melt.

6. In a skillet, toast the pecan halves on the grill over direct heat for four to five minutes, turning as they toast to prevent them from burning.

7. Once the pecans have toasted, pour the maple syrup over them and allow the syrup to heat through.

8. Serve the apple slices with a dollop of yogurt and top with a sprinkle of the maple pecans.
