Gran Torino revs up on DVD
-
Clint Eastwood may have thwarted a youth’s attempt to steal his car in this film, but for all intents and purposes, when it comes to Gran Torino, Eastwood got robbed. As an aging, prejudiced widower living in an increasingly diverse neighborhood, the veteran actor turns in a must-see performance filled with humor, heart and incredible range. When the young Hmong teenager next door is coerced by a gang into trying to steal Eastwood’s prized roadster, the Korean War vet forges an unlikely bond with the kid while at the same time feeling increasingly distant from his own, superficial, suburbanite children. Rated R.
