Good ‘Morning,’ sunshine
A little bit of Network, a little bit of Broadcast News, and a lot of sarcastic banter went into Morning Glory, the comedic drama from The Devil Wears Prada scribe Aline Brosh McKenna that is new on DVD this week. Set amid the production of a popular Regis & Kelly-style morning talk show, the film stars Rachel McAdams as a young TV producer given the thankless job of boosting the show’s ratings and corralling the egos of its two stars played by a constantly warring Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton. While the show has its ups and downs, McAdams recognizes more of herself in Ford and Keaton than she would like to admit and undergoes a coming-of-age moment where she must decide what kind of adult she is going to be before it is too late. Jeff Goldblum co-stars. Rated PG-13.
