Gone ‘Haywire’

MMA women’s champion fighter Gina “Crush” Carano moved from the ring to the movie screen in January for Steven Soderbergh’s new action thriller Haywire, available now on DVD. As Mallory Kane, Carano plays a highly skilled black ops spy (think a female Jason Bourne) whose latest mission in Dublin is sabotaged when her contacts turn on her. Killing one of them in self-defense, Carano goes on the run attempting to make it back to the U.S. to protect her family with a legion of international agents in hot pursuit. Soderbergh surrounds the fledgling actress with an all-star ensemble including Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and Bill Paxton. Rated R.
