Going Up

This Friday, Pixar returns with perhaps its most whimsical adventure yet, the helium and 3-D enhanced Up, which this month was the first-ever animated feature to open the Cannes Film Festival. Retiree Carl Fredericksen isn’t taking his sunset years lying down, and decides to go on an African safari by rigging his home with thousands of balloons for an extraordinary launch. But he’s not alone after lift off. A meddling, 8-year-old cub scout has stowed away for the ride of a lifetime in this touching comedy about never getting too old to chase your dreams. Ed Asner voices Frederkicksen, with Delroy Lindo, Christopher Plumber, and Pixar regular John Ratzenberger adding to the fun. Rated PG. (Photo courtesy Pixar)
