Going green If your summer garden could benefit from new life, stop by the 12th Annual Summer Plant Sale and Gardening Expo on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Botanic Garden on Independence Boulevard to freshen up your yard. Botanic Garden members and vendors will be selling a variety of plants including Louisiana irises, gingers, daylilies, culinary herbs and more. All plants have been grown locally for this sale. Experts will discuss the basics of selecting, growing and maintaining plants in our south Louisiana climate. This event is sponsored by the Baton Rouge Botanic Garden Foundation Board, Friends of the Botanic Garden and BREC.
