Go Speed Racer go!

The guys who brought us the Matrix may be the last you’d expect to bring the classic J-pop cartoon Speed Racer to the big screen, but they do it in style with a flashy CGI world of high-speed action. Emile Hirsch stars as Speed, a young driver who aims to win the Crucible, a dangerous cross-country race that took his older brother’s life. Along the way he gets help from his girlfriend, Trixie, and pals Spritle and Chim Chim. John Goodman, Christina Ricci and Susan Sarandon co-star. Rated PG. In theaters Friday.
