Girl Talk almost sells out, record available for download today
-
Pre-sale tickets for the June 27 Girl Talk show at the Spanish Moon sold out yesterday. Tickets are still available at the door, but we suggest you arrive way before the show starts at 10 p.m.
Girl Talk, the mash-up DJ known as Greg Gillis, has built a cult-like following based on his tightly condensed dance mixes of mainstream music from the Beastie Boys to Blackstreet, from Heart to The Band. His live shows are more popular than the glory days of Kiss, as evidenced by his Baton Rouge visit last year, when dozens of people jumped on stage and danced with the shirtless DJ.
When he’s not selling out or blasting his beats to throngs of people at Lollapalooza, he’s in the studio, stealing hooks from songs and linking them together. His latest album, Feed the Animals, was released today, using Radiohead’s pay-what-you-want style. The album is available for download at illegalart.net.
