Getting out of ‘Debt’

John Madden (the Shakespeare in Love director, not the sausage-fingered sportscaster) brings intelligent espionage to the fore today with mystery thriller The Debt. In 1966, a trio of Isreali Mossad agents are sent on a deadly mission to hunt and kill a Nazi war criminal. For 30 years the agents believed they accomplished their mission until Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson receive terrible news about their partner Ciaran Hinds that could unravel everything they thought they knew for the decades they were hailed as heroes. Jumping between the 1960s (where the leads are played by Sam Worthington and Jessica Chastain) and the 1990s, Madden and co-writer Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Layer Cake) bring the tension and shocking revelations to a boiling point.
