Sanders Bohlke, Erin Miley. Two singer-songwriters perform at Haven Gallery and Listening Room (Map it!). Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Ben Bell & the Stardust Boys. The local singer-songwriter and his band perform in the side bar at Chelsea’s Café. 7 p.m.

Happy Fourth of Jambalaya. A bevy of singer-songwriters including Ryan Harris, Denton Hatcher and more perform at Mud and Water. Advance tickets are $10 here. Doors at 5 p.m. Show at 7:30 p.m.

U.S. Eighties Night. The Spanish Moon’s weekly dance night goes bonkers for patriotism. Go in your best red, white and blue outfit and get in free. Ladies drink free until 10 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m.

ROAD TRIP: Essence Fest. The New Orleans music and culture festival kicks off Thursday with performances from Biz Markie, Cupid and many more.
