Today The Beatles’ entire catalogue of 1960s albums is re-released in deluxe packaging with pristine, re-mastered sound that puts the tinny, faraway feel of the original 1987 CDs to shame. And then there’s the Fab Four version of play-along video game Rock Band new in stores, too. But for film lovers, the lads from Liverpool are well represented on DVD, and what better time to celebrate the greatest pop band of all time than the month that marks the 40th anniversary of Abbey Road? Though the classic, Marx Brothers-esque comedy, A Hard Day’s Night, is on backorder, Netflix has the band’s exhilerating1964 documentary The Beatles: First U.S. Visit, the 1965 James Bond-spoof Help!, and 1994’s comprehensive 5-disc tell-all, The Beatles Anthology, ready to twist and shout.
