Get a dose of science fiction fun

If you love science fiction, cosplay and entertainment that lives on the fringe, you won’t want to miss the LaSciFi Costume & Film Festival this weekend. The “unconventional convention” kicks off Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel (4914 Constitution Ave.) and features a screening and party for the classic musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Throughout the weekend, there will be panel discussions, a film festival, an appearance from Jack Stauffer of Battlestar Galactica and costume contests. Weekend pass tickets are $30.
