Garden Fest at Burden

Give your yard beds a boost, nosh on a farm-fresh brunch, or get a diagnosis for your struggling houseplant. These are just a few of the things you can do at next weekend’s Garden Fest at Burden Center. Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., make your way to the Burden Center off Essen Lane for all this and more. Activities include an outstanding tomato contest, Bloody Mary samples from the city’s finest mixologists, live music and hayride tours of the grounds. In addition, experts from groups such as the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners, the Herb Society and the Camellia Society will be on hand to offer tips and answer questions. Round it out with a plant and vegetable sale, children’s activities and a visit from an ice cream truck and this is an event you don’t want to miss. Admission is $5; kids under 5 enter free.
