‘Gamer’ on!

In what looks like a splashy sci-fi update on Arnold Schwartzenegger’s 1987 hit The Running Man, 300’s Gerard Butler returns to action flicks as the rebellious star player in a futuristic game where humans control other humans in a massive and deadly online extravaganza. Tired of being a literal pawn in their game, Butler triggers a coup d’etat to overthrow his controllers and win back his freedom. Explosions and intense chase and fight sequences abound in this film that’s sure to please fans of Deathrace and just about anything R-rated from the 1980s. Terry Crews, Alison Lohman, and Amber Valetta co-star. Rated R.
