Frozen Yogurt still a hot trend

Self-serve frozen yogurt continues to be a growing food trend in Baton Rouge: This month alone should see three more separate franchises opening their doors in the Capital City. Red Mango in Perkins Rowe is on schedule to open towards the end of this month; Swirll, a Dallas-based chain, will open a location in the Southgate development outside of LSU; and Cali-based Yogurtland will open a second location, also close to LSU on Burbank. Yogurtland’s first Baton Rouge franchise location, on Corporate Boulevard, opened earlier this month. Rotating dozens of flavors, Yogurtland is the latest to offer a potentially healthier frozen treat, made your way because you prepare it yourself. The differences are that Yogurtland’s fro-yo is cheaper—33 cents an ounce—and has won several taste tests across the country. Their flavors include favorites like coconut, and more exotic tastes like taro. Owners Patrick Smith and Chris Tuckett are confident that Yogurtland will be able to lay down sweet roots in Baton Rouge, Click here to see a photo gallery of Yogurtland’s first location.
