Despite the positive changes that have occurred in our national food landscape in recent years, it’s still quicker, easier and cheaper for most of us to eat stuff that’s unhealthy.
Imagine what it’s like to live in a low-income neighborhood where national grocers are absent, where convenience stores stock high-calorie processed food and where many residents don’t have transportation to seek out an alternative. Indeed, lack of access has long been cited as a reason for high obesity rates in low-income neighborhoods, but it’s a hard problem to change quickly. Or is it?
