From 225: Bourbon treat
The Pelican House (Map it!) has quickly become known for its draft beer selection. With more than 130 beers on tap, it is easy to understand why, but the bar and restaurant has more to offer. Take, for example, their bourbon. This American whiskey is perhaps trendier right now than craft beer, and at Pelican House, they take it seriously. The “house” bourbon is Four Roses Yellow Label ($5, 80 proof), a blend of all 10 combinations of Four Roses using two mash recipes and five yeast strands. This flagship Four Roses brand, all of which is Kentucky bourbon, has elements of apple and pear with the standard oak, cinnamon and vanilla characteristics of a bourbon. For more information on this bourbon, check out Jay Ducote’s article from the latest issue of 225 here.
