Forum 35 presents Mixture mixer … Capital Chef’s Showcase next month
‘Mix’ it up: Friday, Forum 35’s Cultural Diversity Initiative holds a unique event at the Lyceum Dean Ballroom downtown. The evening features an avant-garde design competition, local artist TJ Black painting live, an amazing fashion show, break-dancers, food, cocktails and the ever-talented DJ OttO spinning tunes until midnight. Proceeds from the event will go to fund the BR Walls project, which aims to cover downtown’s blank buildings in beautiful murals. Chefs in the limelight: On Sept. 6, Cancer Services of Baton Rouge present their biggest fundraiser of the year, the Capital Chefs’ Showcase, at the Baton Rouge River Center. It’s the 30th anniversary, so they’re pulling out all the stops—attendees can taste food from 30 of Baton Rouge’s best chefs all in one place. The evening will also feature live music, a silent auction and a raffle to win a $4,000 shopping spree at Lee Michaels. Event begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person.
