Food Not Bombs puts healthy spin on feeding the needy

The local chapter of Food Not Bombs cooks hot and healthy meals to feed hungry people in Greater Baton Rouge. Usually on Fridays, they make dozens of meals, and then drive to areas with a high concentration of hungry people—no middle man, no red tape. This Saturday, the grassroots group of young people will throw a party at 2012 Stuart Ave. in Southdowns to collect non-perishables such as sugar, salt, flour, nutritional yeast, pastas, beans, rice, lentils and more. Monetary donations and blankets and sweaters are accepted as well. The collection party also features music, wine and art (for sale).
