Flower child – Ella Rose’s colorful line blooms

Ella Rose wasn’t prepared for the post-grad life. Especially considering she’s one of Louisiana’s newest up-and-comers in the increasingly competitive world of regional fashion design.

“It’s cool, but it’s kind of happening fast,” Rose says.

Since debuting her clothing line in last season’s NOLA Fashion Week, things have taken off for the recent LSU graduate.

Rose received her first order from a boutique out of New Orleans and has had to take on two interns and an assistant to keep things running relatively smoothly.

With the logistics of securing a trademark, manufacturing, ordering clothing tags and more, Rose admits the pace can be a little overwhelming.

“I’m okay with keeping it small right now,” she says.

Last year, Rose made a name for herself with eye-catching clothes that featured self-designed florals, sweet collars and elbow patches on pieces inspired by classic love stories and romantic comedies.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one film she says she could watch every single day.

But Rose says she plans to switch things up a bit for her next collection that will show at the end of this month at the fall incarnation of NOLA Fashion Week.

Until then, Rose is working diligently to complete orders of skirts, dresses and everything else.

“Less than six months after graduation, I’ll be on a clothing rack,” she says. “It’s absolutely insane.”

Rose’s holiday collection will arrive two weeks after fashion week.

She’s keeping a tight lip about the specifics of her upcoming collections, but says fans can expect that same Ella Rose flair—only with a few distinct changes.

More exposure from NOLA Fashion Week, which handed her its “Emerging Designer” honor, and selling her designs to local vendors are just the beginning for Ella Rose. Things are accelerating, and she says she is just thankful for all the support from the Baton Rouge and south Louisiana communities.

“It’s great, because I’m creating my own experience,” she says. “And that’s not something a lot of people get to do.” facebook.com/ellarosedesign
