Five Baton Rouge restaurants to participate in Dining Out For Life Event
Baton Rouge is now No. 1 in AIDS cases and No. 3 in HIV cases in the United States, beating out larger cities with higher populations. Never have local nonprofits needed more support to spread the word about prevention and to help families impacted by the disease, which has claimed the lives of more than 550,000 Americans.
On Thursday, April 25, five local restaurants will participate in the national Dining Out For Life event to raise money for local organizations that teach prevention and support families affected by HIV/AIDS. Eat at Bistro Byronz, California Pizza Kitchen, Mestizo, Monjunis and Stroubes that night and 25% of sales will go to HAART, a Baton Rouge nonprofit that serves the HIV/AIDS community.
Funds will help HAART continue to provide health insurance assistance, housing, case management, and prevention and outreach services to individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. For more information about Dining Out For Life, click here. —Maggie Heyn Richardson
