Fine food and more at The Taste tonight
Good food from local restaurants and a silent auction are part of an annual event that goes a long way in helping out the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. For more than a decade, the center has hosted The Taste, which previously has been connected with an annual golf tournament. But this year, Development Director Danielle Mack says the event has become something bigger.
More than 25 restaurants and caterers will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Capital Atrium inside the Belle of Baton Rouge, 103 France St.
The evening features food and drinks from Chef Don Bergeron, Calandro’s, Kleinpeter Farms, Zea, Texas de Brazil and many more. This year’s event also includes an artists’ show-off exhibition, featuring the work of Julie Dupre Buckner and Terri Dakmak. Both artists will have pieces up for bid. There will also be a silent auction with numerous prizes up for bid.

Tickets to The Taste are $100 per person and can be purchased here.
Mack says all the proceeds go toward supporting the center’s programs, and this year’s crowd should be a big one.
“We’re looking at more people than ever coming this year,” Mack says. “We’re so grateful to everyone involved. We’re very excited.” —Matthew Sigur
