Find your mojo at Chelsea’s

From healthy to indulgent, the menu at Chelsea’s Café contains numerous options pleasing to most any palate. While the Grilled Cheese on Focaccia and the Smoked Pork Loin au Jus are my traditional go-to grub, every now and then I like a change of pace. Enter the Chicken Mojo Poboy ($8.95). Chelsea’s uses marinated boneless and skinless thigh meat to create their unique sandwich. The marinade features plenty of garlic as well as tomato and pepper combined into their special “mojo” sauce. The chicken thighs are smoked to give them even more flavor. There is a salad version on offer, but I opt for the sandwich, which comes dressed with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. It’s served with a side of fries, but the smoked chicken is the star of the show. The garlic fragrance makes my mouth water before the sandwich even touches my lips. The thigh meat pulls apart effortlessly and is moist and juicy, as all dark-meat chicken should be, with plenty of kick from the unique mojo sauce.—Text and photo by Jay Ductote To read more by Jay D.
