Fęte Rouge is back with a mouthwatering lineup

This is the week for Baton Rouge foodies as the seventh annual Fęte Rouge kicks off.

Though tickets have sold out for tonight’s Lifetime Achievement Dinner honoring Capitol City Produce owner Vince Ferachi, tickets are still available for the Friday Food & Wine Fęte.

Friday’s event starts at 6 p.m. and features a competition with 40 local chefs cooking their best dishes. Gold medal and Best in Show prizes will be awarded. The evening will also showcase more than 200 wines from around the world.

Among the chefs competing Friday night are David Dickensauge from Bin 77, Gabby Loubiere from Brew Ha-Ha, Kelley McCann from Galatoire’s Bistro, Cody and Samantha Carroll from Hot Tails Restaurant, Joey Daigle from Juban’s, Chris Wadsworth from Restaurant IPO and many more.

Though the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society is keeping silent on who is cooking what for the Food & Wine Fęte, they have given some details about a few dishes you should expect to see Friday.

Some of the dishes include an Abita-braised pork belly, Louisiana crab frittata, veal cheek ravioli, tenderloin roulade with foie gras and roasted figs, and braised lamb ragu with herb spaetzle. Another dish will be a “Wild Hare,” with braised rabbit, fennel, apple, pancetta chutney and cayenne-rosemary-pecan-crusted goat cheese all served on focaccia.

Proceeds will be dedicated to organizations such as Girls on the Run, Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge and many more.
