Fete beckons B.R.
As Fęte Rouge approaches, preparations for Baton Rouge’s newest foodie fest are in an upswing. From what was only last year a one-night banquet, to this year’s three-day public event, the Epicurean Society’s pet project has seemingly grown up overnight. “We had always hoped to expand it to a multi-day event, but that was something we were looking at doing in five to seven years,” says Renee Dugas, spokeswoman for BRES, “but the response we got from the public, the amount of interest, convinced us that we could roll it out early.” Fęte Rouge will feature a multitude of exciting culinary events: highlights include a casual zydeco food-and-wine tasting, and a chef competition with master chefs from all over the Greater Baton Rouge area. The do-gooding from the fine fooding is vast, as all proceeds from the Fęte will benefit BRES’s childhood nutrition programs, 4-H leadership programs, Pro-Start culinary high school programs, and epicurean scholarship funding.
