Face Evil on Friday the 13th
What better way to celebrate Friday the 13th than slinking around with slithery snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlers?
BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature invites the adventurers to attend Creepy, Crawly Critters, its second Swamp Nights seminar. The event kicks off at 7 p.m.
Besides just sharing fascinating facts about the animals that hold the top slots on the world’s most-feared lists, staff members Collin Nelson and Jessie Ryan will introduce some of the Nature Center’s resident reptiles and arachnids. During a discussion ground versus tree snakes, visitors may witness Evil, the Amazon tree boa, and his dining decorum compared to that of the corn or baby rat snakes’.

The evening also includes a swamp hike that will hopefully feature a sighting of famous Golden Web Weaver spiders in their giant webs, or even elusive Wolf Spiders crawling along on the forest floor. An indoor, alternative program will be planned in the event of rain.
The program is designed for fearless fang fans aged seven or older; all children must be accompanied by an adult. The cost for East Baton Rouge parish residents is $5; the fee for out-of-parish residents is $6.
Advanced registration is required by September 12 either at the Nature Center or here. For more information, click here or call 757-8905.
If you’d prefer to spend Friday the 13th with a furry friend rather than a frightening one, Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge has many adoptable dogs and puppies available.
