Ava Haymon, Louisiana’s poet laureate, discusses her dedication to poetry at The Red Shoes Saturday. The event starts at 10 a.m. and features Haymon speaking on her latest book Eldest Daughter, a work 35 years in the making that speaks on themes of finding balance and spiritual growth in times of shame and pain. After the talk, participants are invited to create their own works of art. Admission is $25 and includes Haymon’s latest book.
