Experimental theater production interprets ‘Metropolis’

-

They’ve got it going on at Baton Rouge Community College. A new theater as beautiful as Manship’s, and theater students willing to put on experimental productions for mostly-empty seats. It’s sad, but not shameful since you’re probably not aware of it. But do take time to catch Metropolis, an adaptation of a 1927 silent film about a futuristic city divided by its underground slave workers and the elite. It’s a chore to transform silent film to the stage, but these students used multimedia and audio clips to beautifully convey the message. And the best part: You’re in and out in less than an hour. Catch two performances at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at BRCC Magnolia Performing Arts Pavilion.
