It’s hard to believe I’ve been gone for more than 10 years. I left Baton Rouge after high school to attend Washington and Lee University. Stints in New Yorkand Washington, DC, followed. I’m in Austin now, but Baton Rouge will always be home.

My family, my friends and the food!

I would say the humidity or the traffic, but I live in Texas, so I haven’t actually escaped any of that.

Pedicabs. I’m not saying that they would be in any way practical in Baton Rouge, but considering I live in downtown Austin, within close proximity to a lot of bars and restaurants, I have come to depend on them.

Dinner at Ruffino’s, lunch at Mansurs, a visit to my grandparents’ home and a stop by a few favorite boutiques: Aria, Eros, Love and Currie.

The most recurring challenge I combat is the weather. It varies from football games in freezing temperatures to baseball games in blazing heat. I’ve really come to appreciate basketball assignments, because they are indoors!

My All Access day with LSU Football was an incredible assignment for a girl from Baton Rouge. The rideto work with Coach Miles certainly jump-started the day. He’s clearly a busy man, so his schedule runs at a rapid pace. My time with him allowed meto recognize the effort that he makes every day to be a great father despite the demands of his job. Lucky for him,he has an uncanny ability to “anticipate change” at traffic lights. There’s not a moment to be wasted in his day!
