Educate yourself at the smart growth summit

How much do you really know about smart growth? If you haven’t registered for Livable Louisiana: A Summit on Smart Growth, it’s not too late to spare a couple of hours Thursday and Friday to learn about compelling topics such as keeping rural areas rural, blight, green space, transportation policy and smart growth in the media. Most of the speakers are directly involved with smart growth in Louisiana, such as experts from DOTD, the Ag Department, Louisiana Speaks, Recovery Authority, even AARP; however, you can pick the brains of green developers from as far as Portland. Rep. Don Cazayoux speaks at 10:15 a.m. Friday, and Sen. Mary Landrieu at 11 a.m. It all happens at the Shaw Center, and there is plenty of room for walk-ins.
