Du Jour with Poppy Tooker
This Saturday, the Red Stick Farmers Market features author and cooking instructor Poppy Tooker, the culinary activist famous for her effort to preserve indigenous foods in South Louisiana — and for whipping Bobby Flay’s gumbo on the chef’s TV show Throwdown. Tooker’s current project is the promotion of her Crescent City Farmers Market Cookbook, which features the journey of the 13-year market – storm and all – and includes 125 recipes developed by local chefs.
