Doubt creeps in Friday
Few stories have caused greater alarm than the rash of sexual abuse claims against Catholic priests in the past decade. Doubt tackles this subject head on as a mystery thriller set in 1964. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are nuns at a Bronx school who suspect Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Father Flynn of abusing the school’s first African-American student, a young boy. Based on John Patrick Shanley’s acclaimed stage play, Doubt is a tense meditation on religion, authority and abuse of power. Rated PG-13.
