Donaldsonville folk artist to paint all day

-

Primitive artist Alvin Batiste, whose work exists in several private collections and museums, will show several of his works at an opening reception Friday afternoon at the Welcome Center downtown. The Donaldsonville artist will paint all afternoon as the Heritage Choral Ensemble performs at 5 p.m. Batiste plans to give away his original piece to someone at the end of the day, but you must register when you arrive. His folksy paintings will hang through the rest of the month at the Capital Park Welcome Center, 702 River Road North. If you haven’t been to this building yet, it’s quite a treasure for downtown. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
